Dennison Exterior Solutions & Gutter Topper as roofing contractors in Stevensville Michigan was tasked to solve multiple problems on this East Stevensville home. This roof had a flat roof on the north side and a steep pitch on the south side. Water would pond (not drain) from the flat roof wherein the decking had delaminated and failed due to their being no ventilation and the older roll roofing being nailed down. We removed the old roofing material and installed the Heat Deflector Insulation and then placed insulation baffles on top of the Heat Deflector in order to create the air channels for cooler drier air to enter into the new vented aluminum soffit that was also installed after the roof project was completed. On the flat roof we installed Taper Poly ISO insulation board that OSB decking adhered to it. One end of the Taper Board is wider at one end so that when installed on the flat roof adds a pitch to the roof so that water will no longer pond and will drain into the gutter system. On top of the Taper board we install CertainTeed’s Self-Adhered Flintastic commercial grade roll roofing that uses no fasteners. This two-part product is sort of like super thick ice and water shield as the base sheet with the cap sheet being adhered to the base sheet that also has a granulated surface.
On the steep pitched side of the roof we installed CertainTeed’s Winter Guard to exceed code and placed it around the soil pipe and the Solar Vent that has both a thermostat and humidistat that turns the vent on and off automatically when needed.
