We first prepared the walls by installing the Heat Deflector insulation, which will ad the equivalent of an R15.67 insulation value to the home. In addition we opened up the soffit for proper ventilation into the attic, which will assist the ridge vent to keep the attic as cool and dry as possible throughout the year.

After completing the installation of the vented aluminum soffit and fascia we installed 3-inch wide vinyl Lineals around all the windows where we will install the CertainTeed Cedar Impressions. Cedar Impressions requires a solid surface in order to properly fasten the four-foot panels to the wall. Unlike 12-foot wide vinyl siding panels, which are designed to float on the wall Cedar Impressions is hard nailed in the middle of the panel so, the product can expand and contract out from the nail. This process means that the placement of the hard nail slot is random and will not always be above a stud.
