This South Bend, Indiana home had two problems. Water was leaking at the kitchen wall, and the old siding was worn out. The homeowner wanted the leak fixed and an exterior that would look great and protect the home for years with little upkeep. Dennison Roofing & Gutter Toppers took care of the roof repair, siding, soffit, fascia, seamless gutters and gutter guards on the main house in one project.
Roof repair over the kitchen
First, we repaired the section of roof over the kitchen, where water had been getting in and leaking at the kitchen wall. Fixing the source of the leak protects the walls and ceiling inside, and it gives the new siding a dry home to go on.
CertainTeed Monogram vinyl siding in Oxford Blue
We tore off the old siding and prepped the walls and openings. Then we installed new starter strip, J-channel and corner posts, followed by CertainTeed Monogram D4″ Dutch lap vinyl siding in Oxford Blue. Monogram is one of CertainTeed’s heaviest and most rigid siding lines, and it carries a lifetime limited warranty. The deep blue gives this classic South Bend home a clean, crisp look from the street. We also rebuilt a deteriorated window frame during the project.
Heat Deflector insulation behind the siding
Before the new siding went up, we covered the walls with Heat Deflector insulation. This reflective layer helps keep heat inside in winter and outside in summer, so the home is more comfortable and energy costs are lower.
White vented aluminum soffit and fascia
We installed new white vented soffit and wrapped the fascia in white aluminum. Vented soffit helps the attic breathe. Aluminum fascia never needs paint, and it protects the wood behind it from rot.
Seamless gutters and Gutter Topper Solution gutter guards
To finish the project, we installed new seamless gutters and downspouts with Gutter Topper’s Solution gutter guards. Dennison always chooses the cover color that best matches the roof shingles. Solution doesn’t come in green, so we went with Charcoal, the closest available Solution color to these shingles.
Gutter Topper makes four gutter covers: Gutter Topper, Needle Guard, Leaf Terminator and Solution. They’re the only system to pass two independent agencies’ tests for no clogging, torrential rain, 110 mph winds and 1,200 lbs per square foot of snow load. Roofing manufacturers have also certified in writing that the unique installation won’t harm or void the roof warranty. Solution is made from .019 aluminum and comes in six colors.
