We have identified that over 60% of all intake vents situated beneath soffit areas of roofs are obstructed within the attic, thereby hindering the proper ventilation of the attic space.
At Dennison Roofing & Gutter Toppers, our installers are mandated to lift crucial components of the decking at the eave edges of the roof to inspect the attic. This inspection is essential to ensure that there is a minimum gap of 1.5 to 2 inches between the top of any insulation and the underside of the roof deck. This opening facilitates the intake of cooler dryer air into the attic through the exhaust vents. The cooler dryer air then circulates throughout the attic, including attics with cathedral ceilings, and effectively expels the hot, moist air through the exhaust vents. If the intake vents are obstructed, the manufacturer and local building codes mandate the correction or repair of the air passage to ensure proper airflow. This adjustment incurs an additional charge. If necessary, we can install insulation baffles to create the necessary air passage.
