After a tree came down on part of this ranch home in Baroda, MI, we replaced the entire roof with CertainTeed NorthGate shingles in Georgetown Gray (29 squares), repaired and replaced about 30 feet of damaged soffit and fascia where the tree hit, replaced the 30-foot gutter section the tree damaged with new 5″ Almond seamless gutter, and installed Charcoal Gutter Topper gutter protection. The roof was installed as a CertainTeed Integrity Roofing System: 5½ ft of WinterGuard ice and water shield at all eave edges and around all roof penetrations, with RoofRunner synthetic underlayment over the balance of the roof deck. Because CertainTeed requires WinterGuard to go over a clean, dry roof deck, never on top of old roofing material, we did a partial redeck, replacing the decking where the old ice and water shield had been installed and wherever else it was needed. The project also included CertainTeed ridge vent with the old roof vent openings covered, attic insulation adjusted for proper airflow, a new vent with a damper, a new chimney flashing kit, new pipe boots, and new T-metal drip edge. On the existing gutters, we cleaned out the gutters and downspouts, repitched where needed for proper water flow, and resealed any leaking seams the homeowner pointed out, then installed 225 feet of Charcoal Gutter Topper.
