Why We Did a Partial Redeck
CertainTeed requires WinterGuard to go over a clean, dry roof deck, never on top of old roofing material. Once the old roof was torn off, our crew checked the decking and did a partial redeck, installing new ½” OSB in the areas where it was needed. That gives the ice and water shield and the new shingles a solid, flat surface to bond and fasten to, which is exactly what CertainTeed calls for.
