Integrity Roofing System

The Integrity Roofing System utilizes two distinct underlayment’s: WinterGuard, a waterproof underlayment that permanently adheres to a clean, dry wood roof deck, and RoofRunner, a water-resistant synthetic felt.

The installation requirements and building codes mandate the application of WinterGuard ice and water shield at all eave edges, extending up the roofline by 24 inches beyond the exterior wall line. All rolls of ice and water shield are 36 inches wide. This requirement necessitates the installation of a second row of overlapped ice and water shield if the overhang, the distance between the roofs’ eave edges where gutters are typically hung, is at least 6 inches wide from the wall. Regardless of the overhang’s width, the ice and water shield must surpass up the roofline by 24 inches beyond the exterior wall line.

Most homes have a 16-inch overhang meaning 2 rows of waterproof underlayment is sufficient in most cases to exceed requirements.

At Dennison Roofing, we meticulously apply a substantial quantity of waterproof WinterGuard underlayment at all eave edges, encompassing all roof penetrations including soil pipes, vents, heating ducts, satellites, skylights, and where a lower roof intersects a wall. This comprehensive approach effectively precludes water infiltration resulting from wind-driven rain or the formation of ice dams.

The inherent advantage of the waterproof WinterGuard ice and water shield lies in its self-sealing capability upon fasteners driven through it. Additionally, it offers a sandy surface, thereby preventing installers from slipping while standing on it.

Seals Around All Penetrations

The water-resistant RoofRunner synthetic felt is subsequently applied to the remaining portion of any exposed roof deck. Synthetic felt possesses a thin plastic surface and functions similarly to a blue tarp, while also incorporating a safety surface that guarantees installers will have a secure and accessible walkable surface.
